Answer:
I think you answered your own question when you said, "When Turkey intervened." Another attempted Muslim take-over. Why intervene? What do you mean "There are still thousands of Greeks living in the north. Of course, that's their land they are living on. The only reason there are still Greeks living free in the South is because of the British presence. If not for that your Turkish Muslim hourdes would have slaughtered them. Once again they stopped the Muslim invaders. Keep Turkey out of the EU. Sectarian nation, what a lot of bull

Yugoslavia was a divided union of nationalities held together by Marshall Tito; after his death Milosevic took side and supported massacres the resulted in high dissatisfaction of other “provinces” . The Slovenians were the first to get out and then Croatians in order to save themselves. Bosnians tried to stick around and paid the price. Thousands were massacred. I was in Belgrade just when Croatia was fighting for independence and when Bosnia was not even in picture. Serbs hated and talked down about Bosnians in daily basis. Slovenians, Croatians, Bosnians and even local Albanians have full right to be in the control of their own lives. It was their decision to get away from Milosevic dictatorship and just refuse being massacred; EU and US could stay away and watch they kill each other and start the WWIII, or take action. We did, saved lives and prevented WWIII. Turkey and Greece are culturally close (excluding religion) but historical adversaries. Both are NATO members and are close geopolitical allies. I have to add that the common feeling in islands of Aegean Sea is of friendship. Again, I have visited those islands; Turks and Greeks like each other and are not much fond of that hyped enmity. America is not trying to unite those nations, just wants to reduce the hyped political tension. There is one snag; Cyprus Island. That is another story.

Because the United Nations has never been able to learn that letting some group of diplomats draw lines on a map and make up new countries is not a good way to overcome sectarian violence. So I guess the UN is just really stupid!!

This was done because of the mistaken belief that appeasing islamofascists will stop them from further aggression. The world will pay in blood for this mistake. By helping islamofascists in the 1990s, America made stronger an enemy of decency.

It is because we had a president, Bill Clinton, who knew nothing of military or history beyond his idiotic Socialist agenda. You will note that we backed the Moslem terrorists in that war.

Your sense of history is biased, to say the least. It is a lie to say that mostly Turks are missing, and Cypriot Turks and Greeks did not "kill each other for years". Turkey did not bring peace in 1974, but divided a country and invaded a sovereign country. Now, go and ask Cypriot Turks from the North what they want (because THAT is the issue, isn't it?) and most of them want to join the south. Apparently, you don't know anything about ex-Yugoslavia either: as the other answerer said, it was an artificial country, that collapsed after Tito's death and the end of socialism.

The USA is more concerned in dividing Mexicans and other Latinos in the western hemisphere.

from history Yugoslavia was never a country, it was cobbled together years many years ago, and the peoples of these different countries were culturally and racially different. Like all of Europe, land and people often get absorbed into another country, think of what was the USSR, now the Federation of Russia, all these little countries, peoples were once part of that empire, and Yugoslavia was the same, when wars happen, one side wins and either takes back lands it once had and those people go back into the fold, or they also want to break away, its like shifting sands, movement of people, goes back thousands of years. I look at Great Britain as an example in a way, we have had colonies for centuries but they spoke mostly different languages, in India, South Africa and elsewhere, and they wanted their independence and eventually got it. So with all people who don't feel they belong. Europe has more than just a complex history, you should look up Yugoslavia in your history books and see quite what happened before it was cobbled together.

Yugoslavia was a country that was formed by forcing different nationalities to live under one government. For better or worse the split up it was? I do not know, only the future will tell. The Cyprus case it totally different. Turkey did not bring peace on the island. Proof? Turkey moved over 150 000 immigrants from Anatolia to N. Cyprus. Where is the peace on that? A peaceful intervention in Cyrpus would be as this : - (Turkey) Come on guys... We know you got your own trouble right now... We are a Guarantor power anyway. Please let us send in some troops to stop the trouble on the island... - (Greece). Alllll riiiiiiiiiiight... Play nice though, OK guys? - (Turkey) Okie Dokie. This is what happened though.. : - (Turkey) ...whistles away the song "..row, row your boats gently down the ... - (Greece) Hey.. whats up dudes??? - (Turkey) KABOOM! KAPOW! SPLASH! WOOSH!

Using some words and thoughts of a Turkish Cypriot friend of mine I d like to correct you. There is one nation in Cyprus.Cypriots live there. They just have different origin, the one has Greek the other has Turkish**. So they are just trying to united the same people, not ot live in the island like strangers. Note that Greek speaking Cypriots, even if they don't unite they have nothing to lose. They are already a member of EU,they have strong economy and they are more advanced area than the occypied part. As for the Yugoslavia. Is devide and rule method Yugoslavia was strong now every former Yugoslav country is weak and easy to be controled by USA. i wont comment on any of your further comments.Obviously you are a Turk. **Note:we are talking about the Turkish speaking Cypriots that always lived on the island and not about the Turkish settlers that Turkey sent (160.000) to be assimilated on the island
