The US has the capacity to produce 99% of things domestically - but things would get a lot more expensive.

Things would be fine. 1) Laws prevent some manufacturing processes. 2) CEOs make more money when they have proxy access to slave labor. 3) Given laws were removed, and CEOs could not use slave labor, we could adjust to manufacture ANYTHING here in America with minimal price impact due to supply and demand. International trade is great, but not REQUIRED. If some imported product was cut off, you better believe we would accommodate the demand quickly, and 100% locally.
