Green energy solutions?

What other solutions are there not to use Wind turbines/wind energy?

  • I am trying to find solutions on what people can do not use wind turbines because it has so many disadvantage of having it. I need solutions what can people do so we wont use them ...show more

  • Answer:

What is the disadvantage of clean free energy from the wind? Oil will run out along with every other finite fuel source and the sun goes away, for part of the day anyway so wind and water are the best free sources of 24 hour power.

Wind turbines are not practical in most places because they require a sustained wind of at least 10 mph. Almost all areas have some practical green energy source. By the ocean they can use tide powered generators, In states like Arizona they can use solar energy, Almost anyplace can use geothermal energy. The power companies are still making big bucks using fossil fuels and just don't want to change.

There are lots of other renewable energy sources. Hydroelectric Tidal Wave Oceanic and reverse electrolysis Nuclear (fission and fusion) Solar Biomass and biofuel Geothermal There are lots ofways to capture energy. Anything than moves can be used to produce electrical energy (the only kind of energy that we can use right now in almost anything). Wikipedia has really good rticles about the basics of each one of these (see my source).

I'd be interested in knowing what disadvantages you consider. There is was a wind farm planned near where I live that was canceled because of the "horrible disturbance in the natural view" they'd cause. NO ONE said anything about the nasty looking cell towers all over the tops of nearby hills; in my thoughts much more ugly than a beautiful windmill. USE LESS ENERGY! Anyone who complains about having windmills (or coal or nuclear plants) around better be doing everything possible to cut their energy usage or they have no right in my mind to complain. Do you leave lights on all night for "safety" (no safer and just easier for people to see what they want to steal) or run a clothes dryer when it's sunny outside? Don't complain to me about where your power comes from.

Assuming you're looking for other "clean/renewable" electricity productions methods the list isn't extremely long... Hydroelectric (water) - a reasonable portion of the possible dam sites are already in use and adding more could result in more negative ecological impact than building new wind turbines. Photovoltaic (solar) - Even in the most desirable locations the panel efficiencies are dismal, night and clouds hinder output even more, and silicon supplies will presumably never be enough to make solar a huge player. Nuclear - Disasters and waste Biofuel (plants) - Real potential if we can come up with an efficient way to utilize algae or other sea based plant life. Ethanol was a bit of a flop due to low output per energy input and taking a big chunk out of the world food supply, but the oceans are vast and a good breading ground for plants that turn the sun's energy into chemical energy. Ultimately the majority of our energy potential comes from the sun. Sure there's heat at the earths core and fossil fuels (the result plant life long ago), but the amount of energy that's hitting the earth from the sun in a single day about as much we humans "need" in a year. Hopefully there are engineers right now determining the best ways to utilize it.
