  • Answer:

Have a look at the " Greek Island Hopping " website , the online version of the annual guidebook that has sample itineraries , and describes all the ferries and routes . Schedules are liable to drastic revisions at present , due to the economic crisis and uncertainty about the forthcoming election and what will happen after . If you are travelling between Santorini and Athens take a slow boat and get off at Naxos on the way , that is a nice place and not too expensive . Room prices throughout Greece are fairly standard now and you wont be able to chaffer the price down for just a few nights stay .

Santorini, along with Mykonos, is the most expensive island. Any other island would be cheaper. The slow ferries are less expensive than the fast ones. Try the islands closest to Athens.....that would be more economical.
