Does anybody know where kids can go to recycle/ redeem cans in Dallas Texas?

Did you know that Dallas does not recycle cans, bottles or plastic?

  • I went to the Patriots vs.Cowboys game and found out the city of Dallas DOES NOT recycle!! I was shocked! Do you recycle in your city?

  • Answer:

The city of Dallas does recycle. The trucks come by every other week. "Sanitation Services has expanded its recycling program to include Big Blue roll-carts. Dallas residents have the option of registering to receive a Big Blue roll-cart or continue using the plastic bag method. Delivery of the Big Blue roll-cart will begin November and December 2006. Please continue using the plastic bag method and follow your regular recycling collection schedule until January 2, 2007. If you prefer, you may continue recycling with blue bags (or clear bags) and need not register for a blue recycle cart. However, starting January 2, 2007, we will begin the twice-monthly pickup of recyclables in carts and/or bags."

Nope. I didn't know that. Yes my city does recycle but not as much as I think they should. A lot of apartment complexes don't recycle because they don't want to pay the city for the recycling bins. Which I think is stupid, especially since Global Warming was introduced.

Wow - shocking bit of info. Here in Australia recycling is almost compulsory, where we have 2 roadside bins. The biggest one is for everything recyclable - cardboard, metal, plastic. The smaller one (about half the size) is for non-recyclables such as glad wrap, meat, bones, food, etc.

ABSOLUTELY. Our whole county area is involved in recycling which even includes the "trash" pickup. All papers are seperated from other items. Plastic, glass and metal are allowed in one container then are separated at another facility. The state has promised monetary assistance for programs if the county can raise the level of participation to a certain predetermined tonnage based on surveys done to assess the amount not being recycled at the beginning of the program. They even pick up used engine oil and tires so people aren't dumping on the land. To be certain everyone has incentive to recycle, the fee for "trash" pickup is added to the real estate taxes.....

No I didn't. Shame on them. I live in a Dallas suburb. They pick up those recycle items at my curb every week.
