What do you think of Survey Savvy.com? Is it a scam?

Im trying to conduct a survey for people in 2011 on whether they believe in global warming or think its a scam?

  • I'm doing a paper on global warming. I would like to have a personal set of statistics for my paper on whether people are die hard believers of global warming or if they have ...show more

  • Answer:

    >>>whether people are die hard believers of global warming or if they have always or recently found it to be a large scientific fraud. That's quite the dichotomy. Thanks for explaining the lefty/righty part, but in the case where "die hard believer" wouldn't describe me but I still accept AGW as being a well-established theory, then what? I accept AGW as true, FWIW.

The evidence shows that there has been warming in the past century, and the evidence shows that it is (as far as we can tell) primarily due to human activity, mostly the release of carbon dioxide from burning oil and coal. That is the consensus opinion of scientists in the field, and, barring significant new evidence, it is likely to remain so. So, by your definition, I'd be a "lefty".

it's real and the last 100 years increasing due to our fossil fuel emissions.

I believe it has been proven that the Earth naturally warms and cools over its life time. For example during the last Ice Age the Earth had gotten a lot cooler, so I'm sure the exact opposite can happen where the Earth gets warmer at some points as well. I do believe that the pollution in the atmosphere might have an effect on Earth's temperature change but the majority of it to me is natural.

There are plenty of people using global warming to make money or push a political agenda. The 'facts' behind global warming have been greatly exagerated.

Climate change has always correlated with the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. In the past this stuff was released from volcanoes but now it's produced by humans in mass. Yes, global warming is real and caused by the continual increase of CO2 in the atmosphere caused by humans.

Whats being Left or Right have to do with Global Warming? There plenty of opinions both supporting and denying GW regardless of party affiliation. So I'm confused to you want to know whether people believe in GW or whether their Left or Right? As far as mindless sheep that believe anything their party tells them, are those opinions really worth counting?

I think AGW is happening based on the science I have seen develop over the last 25 years. I have little interest in the left or the right of politics, but the science. http://climate.nasa.gov/ http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/ http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/volcanowatch/2007/07_02_15.html http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/2011/6 If this question where not asked so often and nearly always by a brand new account you might be more believable, but a sampling of a group of newly created accounts answering "it's not happening" is hardly very scientific. As are answers like 'Jeffery Cole' (yet another recent account) who's statements are complete fiction. "Actually, Man Made Climate Change has been thoroughly disproved" Note what he provided to back that up a denier blog (and just one) and a reference to the thoroughly (and actually) discredited petition project (strange how deniers also claim consensus means nothing yet they push a petition so hard) but lets not confuse them with logic. Then there is this, also from jeffery "since 1812 and levels have been as high as 550 ppma" sorry, for Co2 this is also utter fiction, this is Co2 for the last 450,000 years, level have not gone anywhere near that level. (his claim cores are not good co2 proxies is rubbish) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Vostok_Petit_data.svg This is the problem with deniers they simply make things up. Or this "600 million years were average of 1200 ppma." This is another made up fact (did this guy check anything he made up) the real figure would actually be higher based on this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Phanerozoic_Carbon_Dioxide.png And of course what jeffery fails to mention is the planet was far warmer and had higher sea levels and no ice at the poles for most of these periods when Co2 was this high. A good portion of that Co2 is tied up in both rock (through chemical processes) and the very same oil (fossil fuel) we are currently burning. or this "About 250 million years ago, CO2 was more than 5000 PPMA" Actually no, it was not, again checking the actual records would have shown this answerer that his statement here is once again not true http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Phanerozoic_Carbon_Dioxide.png Levels 250 million years ago were about half what jeffery suggests and this, which is part of the same comment relating to 250 million years ago "Flowers were 6 feet high" whoops you seem to have really been caught making things up here as the first flowers only appeared ~130m years ago http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolutionary_history_of_plants#Flowers This is the sort of laughable tripe deniers continue to post to push their rather pathetic agenda, when the actual science is quite solid and they have actually had little effect on it, as they continue to make personal attacks on individual scientists and stories and conspiracies that have no basis in fact at all.

We've seen over time that the earth's temperature fluctuates. I think people are taking this out of hand ever since Al Gore came along and started talking about it in 'An Inconvenient Truth'. (Which most of it has information that is either incorrect or not proven). I think humans pollution has had an effect on the atmosphere but the way I see it, the earth has been around millions of years. I think human's pollution is a little too insignificant to affect the whole world like everyone claims.

Yes of course it's a scam but it has nothing to do with right wing or left wing. It's about money and they're all in on it.
