Why Should We Donate to World Wildlife Fund?

Is the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) a worthy cause to donate to?

  • I saw a commercial for them, but I'm always a little hesitant to give my money to anything like this.

I am pleased to report that in fiscal year 2006, total fundraising and administrative costs, including salaries, represented only 17% of our expenses. That means that 83% of contributions went directly to our conservation programs. For more information about World Wildlife Fund, please visit the "About Us". Under "Financial Overview" you can see and download our 2006 Annual Report, 990 form, and Statement of Activities." Now, what they do with "conservation program funds" I am not sure, but you can browse through their site and get some more answers (see link). I am glad that the WWF brings awareness to people, but if you are looking for a more scientifically grounded place to donate towards conservation, I highly recommend SCB - the Society for Conservation Biology.

they have lawyers, offices,staff,commercials on TV,all this costs HUGE overhead so in reality how much really is going towards animal welfare I'm thinking less than 10% of all donations.

I hope some can tell you diff. but I assume most of I goes to"overhead" you know what is. edit:: big nickel left out luxury housing and villas required for "researchers" and"staff" and leasing expensive boats and air craft "nessesary" for their lavish vacations, Opps I meant for their research.
