    I think they don't consider an animal endangered unless their population drops to a certain level, once their population increased to a point where they think they can start repopulating on their own, they're no longer considered endangered. but I agree, in my standards, I'd say they're still endangered

If the gray wolf is no longer "in immanent danger of extinction", it is no longer endangered. Religion has nothing to do with it. If my religion deified the Norway rat, do you think that rat traps would be banned?

Be careful what you wish for. There are many landowners who would shoot an endangered animal on their property and quietly get rid of it rather than risk having their land condemned out from under them because it is supporting an endangered animal.
