What are some endangered animals?

  • I really want a list of the animals this year that are non endangered, and overpopulated. I already know a lot of animals that are endangered, I just wanted to know the animals ...show more

  • Answer:

Do you know what you're asking? Scientists estimate there are 5 million to 30 million species in the world, of which 2 million have been formally identified. In the U.S. there are 1244 species on the endangered and threatened list, and another 213 current candidates. This doesn't count species in other countries, many of which don't keep lists of endangered species, and many species (particularly in the tropics) are thought to be going extinct every week without anybody really knowing. It would take years of non-stop effort to create a comprehensive list that meet your criteria, unless by 'animal' you mean 'mammal' and your scope is the U.S, that would narrow it down significantly.

Basically any animal that is not on the endangered list for 2008 is not endangered, so you can make up your own list. I would say rabbits are over populated there are a heck of a lot of them in my area. It really depends on where you live. I would contact your local wildlife officer/conservation officer and ask them.
