What are the pros and cons of saving endangered species?

  • Personal opinions, facts, anything. It's for school, please and thank you :)

  • Answer:

I think we should do everything we can to save endangered species. That said...I believe that our environment is constantly changing and evolution is a reality. The sad part is this means that some species die, the good part is that we're constantly finding new species.

The pros would be that we saved a species from extinction that was probably only brought to the brink from our actions. The con is that we take the process away from nature. We dont know if that creature was chosen to become extinct by nature or if it became extinct because of us.

Actually species are endangered because of loss in habitat etc but in a changing world who would decide what will continue, maybe new species or transformed species will appear after the present one extinction.let the change happen

in saving endangered species gives us more knowledge that can benefit all species on this planet, including man. the more we learn about how things, and animals work the better off we are. the downside of saving every endangered species is that we become quite arrogant and believe that we can resurrect extinct species, change the dna of all species, turn on or turn off genes in many diffent forms of life, etc. all of which can cause serious problems in the future. for instance science has created so called "super bugs" that are immune to current medications. if these super bugs ever adapt and infect other species, then we could se the end of life as we know it on this planet. we have to be responsible in how we approach science, and how we use science. there comes a point at which it is best to let some species die off so that others can live. we are not god, and we shouldnt play god.

Well, your grandchildren will be able to see an amazing animal, for a start. Also, how would you feel if humans were endangered (which is practically impossible) and the polar bears, pandas, and other THRIVING animals just stood there and watched it happen? Us humans have been doing a lot to help endangered species, and I hope they appriciate it. ^_^ In my opinion there arent any cons. Except SOME people might think it's not worth the effort... but personally, I think that's selfish. Hope this helps! Good luck on your school project or paper!

It could take a lot of money and effort to save them and you might not be able to but if you do it has to be a pretty awesome feeling seeing as how you saved the thousands of animals that will come to be later on..

Well, a good thing is if its not extinct we know we have some beautiful species in the world, i dont know but if you think logically then the species that has been saved could wipe another species out through the food Chain?? which would be a bad thing.

The pros are you will probably help them, the cons are they might die anyway.
