Diego Armando Maradona?

  • Diego Armando Maradona is the new coach of ARGENTINA National team of course he's gonna have help from Carlos Salvador Bilardo, José Luis Brown y Sergio Batista.Gabriel Batistuta y ...show more

  • Answer:

what?! as much as i admire his career, this is a bad move for the team. all year i hear him public ally criticizing argentine players like kun, messi, gago, and so on. this is not a respectable characteristic especially if he is now going to take a leadership role with the country... it's actually kind of hard to believe seeing as how he has little coaching experience at such a high level. anyway, dale albiceleste!!!

They haven't decided on the new Manager yet. AFA will announce it towards the end of the week. The shortlist I heard was Sergio Baptista, Carlos Bianchi, Miguel Angel Russo and Diego Maradona. I do not see how Maradona, with very little Managerial experience gets this position. Perhaps as a number 2 but not the head coach. Diego came out and pleaded to be considered but I don't think AFA had originally had him in thought. I feel that Baptista could be the front runner for this position. All of the Argentine players have respect for him already and has work with quite a few of the younger Senior players in the past. He has only been on the job for over a year and perhaps the jump might be too quick for him. Bianchi would also be a good selection if he has not lost his touch as a manager. He hasn't managed anyone since 2006 and I wonder if he would follow the same issues that Basile was apparently having with the more younger players on the squad. The Selection of the # 2 is going to be a key focus as well. Edit: Thanks for the Link Did a bit more research on Argentine sites instead of English based ones. He is the type of coach to relate with the players but I don't think its the right move unless his staff are very well equipped with experience to lead Argentina like you said. I will stay of the opinion that the # 2 will need to be carefully chosen. Last time he managed a team was in 1995 with Racing
