What was the main reason that Argentina's soccer team was defeated unexpectedly in worldcup 2010?

Basically we played russian roulette football very good upfront but without much at the back. You may get away with this once or twice but you will get caught out in the end.

Maradona was a genius player but that hasn't translated to his coaching. He was very tactically naive.The attacking line-up was excellent and one of the best in the world but he didn't call up the best crop of Argentine defenders. He left Zanetti and Cambiasso at home, the best right back and the best defensive midfielder from Argentina in the past decade and he failed to start Walter Samuel, easily the best Argentine central defender.

Please dont thumb down because I was Germany. They got the best forwards but not defenders. German GoalKeeper was more stronger than Kahn. And argentina played with weak teams. Dont mind but I cant figure out how Mesi didnt know what to do with the ball.

Germany is just better then they are! that's really it!
