I'm not an expert, but I know that since you are thirteen, your voice is changing (yes, your voice changes whether you're a girl or a guy), but something I've found is important is not to strain it, or overdo it, because it could affect your voice once its done changing. I'm also pretty quiet, but another tip- Breathing is KEY!! Your projection, and even sometimes your tone, can depend on it!

The most important aspect of good, strong vocal production is breath support. Start every day with doing some breathing exercises. For example: 1) inhale through your nose, slowly and deeply, feeling expansion first in your stomach and back, and LASTLY, the chest. When properly inflated, you should feel a bit like a barrel. :-) Exhale on a hiss, concentrating on keeping the airflow as constant as you can. You can hear fluxuations because the sound won't be consistent. 2) inhale and do the "bubble lips" on pitch. To do this, relax the lips and allow the air flow through them, creating the "bubble" sensation. Try it on a five-note scale. 3) humming on pitch is a great exercise. Hum up three notes and down three notes. After breathing, the next important step is to slowly warm up your voice. 1) expand on the humming. Start at a pitch that is comfortable for you and go up and down on a five note scale. 2) If your goal is to make the top notes stronger, it's VERY important that you warm up the lower part of your voice first. It allows the muscles in the throat, chest, and shoulders to relax enough for you to get the proper breath supply into the top notes. 3) once you've warmed your lower register, simply move up the scale again (a half step at a time). It's slow going, but if you keep at it, you'll love the results. 4) don't get apprehensive about the high notes. when you get nervous about a note coming up, you tense, and there's no way you'll be relaxed enough to get them out, k? Just remember the feeling of the "hissing" exercise discussed earlier. When you start a phrase that has a high note, remember that feeling, and let the breath release into the upper notes....DON'T push! you'll hurt yourself. Just feel that surge of breath pressure. Good luck with you and your studies...your voice still has 22 years of growing and maturation to do, so don't rush it. Take it slowly, and you'll realize that within a month you'll be singer much more strongly and surely than ever before. Hope this helps. :-)

I have the same problem as you. We're alot alike. I'm 13. Singing is my passion and no one has heard me, I can hit that know in This is Me though, so I can hit some more notes. But here's what to do: practice. everyday. Loud as you can. That might be embarrassing, I know, so wait until you're home alone. Sit and play some songs and just sing. Before you start though, drink some water and breathe and warm up by going "Ha Ha Ha Ho Ho Ho He He He" ranging from notes.

Hey! That "soft voice" is your high voice, and most girls have trouble with it without training. What you need to do, is focus on strengthening the bridge between your diaphram voice and your head voice. The best way to do this is through scales on a piano. This guy has a series of 4 videos on youtube where he goes over breathing techniques as well as scales and warmups. Follow along and focus on keeping your voice at a constant pitch. Also, a key part of being a good singer, is being confident. Take me for example. i know that i can sing, however in public when i get nervous i tend to be shakier in my voice. However, by being confident and sure of myself, it improves my singing. And i'm sure by being confident you can improve yours too!! Good luck!
