How good do you have to be at singing to get a record deal.?

Anyone can sing. If you took 100 random people off the street you could find a hand full that had great singing voices. There is nothing great about being able to sing well. If you want a record deal you need to back up your singing skills with something else like song writing skills. If you can write music then your voice means nothing, just look at Bob Dylan and Neil Young. If you can't write music then you will have to fall back on appearance. If you are not attractive then you will have lots of trouble. The world has enough boy-bands and talentless vixens in the industry already. If you have a good voice and want others to hear it, then join a church choir. Or learn some instruments. A good singing voice doesn't impress me. Try out for American Idol or something.

u really dont have to be that good i mean cumon miranda cosgrove, and FERGIE (hav u heard her live) has a record deal, thats pretty sad plus u can tell wen its mechanically enhanced sumtimes like so many of those "disney channel stars"

its not how good, its how lucky do u think billie joe from green day can sing good, i dont, but he sure is lucky

It isn't about how good a singer you are it's how famous or notorious you are-if you do gigs at local hot spots and people like you they will start talking about you and eventually a big record producer will be in town and hear about you and go to see you and if he likes you he might sign you

uhm...i would think you'd have to be pretty good to get the deal...and maybe after that they could like synthesise(sorry, that isn't spelt right) your voice to cover weak spots or something

Yeah, well considering how many terrible singers playing on the radio these days, you prolly don't have to be that good.
