How do I produce vibrato?

Why does Charlotte Church produce her vibrato by wobbling her mouth?

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ6iEcXss2A I don't get it because shes supposed to be a good singer but this is really bad technique, my singing teacher would kill me if I did ...show more

I doubt it is intentional; she started receiving training when she was very young - something like 11 or 12 - and that may simply have been something less than perfect that she picked up along the way. Either way, she sounds great. She's managed to get some of the "fruity" sound out of her voice in the last couple of years, but I daresay she can afford a better coach now :-) She did the soundtrack to "A Beautiful Mind" a few years ago - check it out some time - it's very interesting music.

I can't say Charlotte Church's method of producing vibrato is that odd, many singers employ this approach. It hasn't stopped her from becoming rich and famous (as an opera singer). I totally agree with you about Renee Fleming though but you must listen to Jessye Norman, it will make your hair curl!

I know it looks like she is trying to juggle ping pong balls in her mouth!

Charlotte Church's vibrator does what????

Andy

i believe that this is not a technique anymore.but i guess that singer makes it so exxage to produce more emphatic vibrato somehow all i know is what makes your voice produce vibrato is through your diaphram(air from the diaphragm) and then pass to your vocal chords and your vocal support will do the job to vibrate it.
