What can you do on Yom Kippur?

What can I do during Yom Kippur to keep my mind off being hungry?

    shalom!!!! i am jewish too!! i hate fasting, we just did the fast of gedalliah last week rite? lol well im 12 so fasting is hard for me, and we are not really super reeligious, so i do things i never have time to over the week. sometimes i give myself a mani/pedi or give myself a facial. i also do any hw i hhad to do on the weekend, so i dont have to ruin my sunday. i also play with the other kids my age at the synagouge if we go, or just read a book. i know im young, so thats the best i got, hope i helped, chak sameach!!! (hebrew for happy holiday)

If I fast for the day, I always bring my books with me. I suggest sieries like harry potter, the golden compass, Wicked (and son of a witch), or the chronicles of narnia, they absorb you into the book, and are a great way to pass time

Remember that this day is a Shabbat like the weekly Shabbat but is a day of humbling ourselves, self-denial rather than a day to feed ourselves with the best meals of the week. We will do well to remember that this day is not about us, it is about Him. Read your Holy Scriptures, meditate on the book of Psalms, read proverbs. Worship Him, take this time to reflect on your life and have a good look inside and pray and ask Yah to guide you in all of this.

You should take some naps, plus think about things that are interesting, such as school tests, your boyfriend/girlfriend, any big events coming up. Basically anything that is interesting enough to divert your attention for a bit. I will be fasting too. Have an easy fast, and shana tova

any religion that asks you to harm yourself i'll have no meddling with personally, but then again, kudos, at least you're not Catholic. Not that i'm against any religion really. Diversity is a beautiful thing. I'm tattooed from head to toe, and pierced, so I can't say much about anything, other than, hey, that's a pretty big hamster! Those tricky catholics, They're always changing what they believe to conform to the populace. If you want some good reading, An Underground Education is a great novel on several truths in history, lovely section on the religion. As Far as card games, try the book of Hoyle, rules and instructions for a number of them in there. If you're like me, there's always piercings and tattoos, hehehehe. Also, Stephen King's The Dark Tower series, is gory, yeah, but it's more like a mix of all genres, and is actully very imaginative.

Give up stupid religious dogma and traditions (and I mean all religion, not just Judaism) and frigging eat! Barring that, take up playing computer/Playstation/Nintendo games. If you get engrossed in one, you will play for hours without thinking about food.
