Black Friday is only there because market researchers figure that after Thanksgiving people tend to still be at a family members house, so they get bored and the women go shopping. So it's meaningless to other countries

Yes, Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States, which is the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season. The term dates back to at least 1966, although its usage was primarily on the East coast. The term has become more common in other parts of the country since 2000. Before you go on about people wasting their money, you should do some research on the positive effects of black friday on the economy.

It is because Thanksgiving is an American holiday which only occurs at this time of year in the US and therefore it is only really appropriate to have such sales on Black Friday in the US. Here in the UK we don't have Thanksgiving and Thursday was just an ordinary day - why on earth would our shops have sales to reflect something that happened in the US and which we don't really care about at all? Of course, that's not to say that we don't have days/times of the year when our shops traditionally have sales. The day after Christmas Day we have a holiday called Boxing Day and traditionally most shops start their winter sales on that day.

If you go to England, France, Russia or China, Thanksgiving is just another Thursday. SO naturally black Friday is just, Friday.
