thanksgiving is really a celebration of diversity in america! long before the pilgrims and natives feasted together people all over the world celebrated the harvest. this was the first time two large distinct groups celebrated together in america. so while counting your blessings of shelter and food, be sure to give thanks for the diversity of america. and let's not ever take for granted the freedom each of us has to celebrate or not as we please

I would not consider Thanksgiving a religious holiday... Some people choose not to celebrate Thanksgiving because they don't believe it's necessary. According to the United State's traditional story, the Pilgrims gathered to give thanks, sharing a feast with their Native American neighbors. So... my guess is that your friends don't feel a need to celebrate it. If your friends don't celebrate Thanksgiving because of their religious beliefs... they're wrong. It's just another American holiday... nothing religious about it.

You said that your friends were born here but were their parents? If they did not celebrate it as a tradition since they were not familiar with it, then it is natural that their children wont either. I also know that some people that are Christians do not celebrate it due do being too close to a pagan holiday that celebrates the Fall and Harvest seasons.

thanksgiving isnt a religious thing. i dont know why youre friends dont celebrate it but anyways... thanksgiving is about the pilgrims landing on plymouth rock in massachuesets and that was in the U.S so why would people in other countries celebrate it? exactly they dont. hope i helped :)
