Stores that are open on Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving? does anyone feel that Thanksgiving is just going to go away? I work in retail and stores open?

    I don't see it ever going away just that black friday won't be what it once was. I think that it is bad stores only want to make money and can't be closed for thanksgiving and christmas. It does seem every year the black friday opening keeps getting earlier and earlier. I think stores should let employees spend Thanksgiving with their families. They make more than enough on black friday and need not to be so greedy. Happy Thankgiving.

For those who choose to work in retail, or any type of service industry related job (restaurants, etc), it should be understood right from the start that they may be expected to work on statutory holidays; Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. In Canada, ever since the late 1970's, more and more businesses remain open on holidays. There was once a time when all stores were closed on Sundays too...but those days are long gone. I chose not to work in the service industry, and I haven't worked a holiday in over 40 years. Staying in school, then following up with post secondary education helped me achieve this. For those who dislike working on stat holidays, or weird hours in general, maybe this is an option for them too? In Canada, we celebrate our Thanksgiving in October.

It's not going away, it's just becoming part of the christmas holidays. I don't like it either, but there isn't much we can do besides staying home on black friday.
