Answer:
It's very similar to Thanksgiving....maybe families will have ham instead of turkey. Lots of good food and a good excuse to eat and be around family :)

Because Thanksgiving and Christmas are some 30 days apart, that is a long time to go without eating! By Christmas one is relatively starving, so it is not surprising that you eat turkey on Christmas..

Most americans eat what they normally eat for Thanksgiving also. (Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed potatoes, etc.), but our family is a little different. We normally eat some type of comfort food such as a bowl of CHILI or beef stew or something like that.

there is no one single Christmas meal, though a lot of people will have ham. Some have turkey. You have to remember that America is 3000 miles east-west by about 1500 miles north-south. Regional foods vary because they have different cultural influence. People who live in costal New England are more likely to incorporate sea food, while people who live in the south might have corn bread. A lot of people also have what their family's culture has... for example, my grandparents came from Italy. Our family on Christmas generally eats traditional Italian meals-- pasta, cannoli, etc. My husband is from Puerto Rico, they eat pork, rice, etc.

Im in Canada but you probably don't care! Anyways I have turkey on the 10th of oct. and on Christmas we have "night of a thousand apps!!" it sounds funky but it is super, super fun and delignent. We have most of the traditional apps~ swedish meatballs, little smokies, candied habenero peppers, ect. With some non traditional things like salmon sliders and ripped pork pie!! I love it so much. Christmas is almost here too!!
