Answer:
I agree with you. The true meaning of Thanksgiving is just thanking God for everything that He's done for you in your life. We, as Americans, have so much to be thankful for that there are just too many for me to name.

Whatever the origin was, I don't believe it matters. As long as we set aside a day to gather and give thanks for what we have, should be enough. But if you really want to know what I think, (I didn't research this) I'd say it was what everyone thinks: When the pilgrims survived a hard winter and had a feast after a great harvest.

I'm not going to read that, seems boring but I heard it's the day we thank farmers for food or something. I don't celebrate it.

A nationalistic holiday, it's awfully historically inaccurate.

Thanksgiving.

ok, I think it is purely about celebrating life and giving thanks for what you have, and eating what the pilgrims did when they celebrated.

In the United States, Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day is an annual one-day legal holiday to express gratitude for the things one has at the end of the harvest season. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. The period from Thanksgiving Day to New Year's Day is often collectively referred to as the "holiday season," and the holiday may be colloquially nicknamed "Turkey Day". Thanksgiving is generally considered a secular holiday, and is not directly based in religious canon or dogma. The holiday's origins trace to harvest festivals that have been celebrated in many cultures since ancient times, and most people celebrate by gathering at home with family or friends for a holiday feast. A tradition also exists to share the fruits of the harvest with those who are less fortunate
