Why is the women's prayer area so small?!?

its not small, you're all just getting fat from lack of exercise thus taking up more room giving the impression the prayer hall is shrinking.

Really? I have been to plenty of Mosques and have never found that. Perhaps smaller than the mens true but not small enough that all the women who come dont fit. Its an obligation for men and Jummah prayer so more men go than women. More men go several times a week than women do. So a larger space for them is only more practical but I have never found as a woman that I have been pushed out or there has been no room for me. EDIT No I have not been to Edinburgh central mosque. I did not claim to have been to every mosque in the country sister nor than some did not have adequate space for sisters. All I said was the ones I have personally attended although the sections for women may have been smaller there was still room for all women who attended to pray and still there was room left if more had have come.

lol i know what you mean... i think its because on Fridays its preferred for a women to pray at home, and is compulsory for men to pray in the Mosque. so the builders assume there will be more man than women.

because women are just chattel to muslim men and are not wanted at the mosque which is why they are put out in the corridor to make things as uncomfortable as possible to dissuade them from coming

Maybe they can't afford a big enough area yet... (Like don't have enough funding), and can only support 1 area! Be patient with them, Insha Allah, everything will be ok! But going to pray at the mosque is mandatory for only men, while women it is optional... So this may be one reason! But if it is too small, they should do something about it, I think! People should be able to fit into any room with easeeeeeeeeeeeee! That's the way I like it... @Deepak, you are just an ignorant Hindu, who only knows how to spread nonsense! Go away...

I'm from Birmingham, UK and I could tell you that for the Friday prayer every masjid is packed in bham because everyone goes to that prayer and there is a lot of Muslims in Birmingham compared to Masjids. Best thing to do is to speak to someone at the Masjid and donate plenty of money so they can continue improving it. My Masjid does heaps of work from dawah, to events for the youth etc etc. They are great mashallah. May Allah swt reward them. Remember the Masjid is the houses of Allah, so please if you think the space is less do something about it don’t just tell the Masjid members but actually help them out. The masjid always needs people to help as well as donations so please bear this in mind.
