I think the easiest way to memorize your jazz would be to learn the instruments each musician played. They all have very different sounds and the musicians all had the one thing about them that made their jazz, their jazz.

Really, you should be listening to these things already. They're all great artists and you really should know them. Satchmo has an extremely obvious voice, sounds like Kermit the frog gargling, which is great in it's own way. Ms. Fitzgerald, you just know. Benny is trickier, there are many big bands to confuse him with. The Duke is a great writer, but i don't know if I'd be able to pick out his playing. Look up JazzStandards.com, it has hundreds of standards in rankings. You should be able to recognize the tune to, say, Body and Soul immediately, as well as many more.
