    Scott Joplin's rags are an excellent intro to piano, especially "The Entertainer", "Peacherine Rag" and "Maple Leaf Rag". They are widely available in print and they come in MANY versions, including easy versions that don't tax your left hand too much! The main thing about Joplin's pieces is that they are FUN TO PLAY. You will want to eventually work on the original full versions. On a slightly more difficult level, try some of the Dave Brubeck transcriptions. A good pianist/reader can sound pretty close to Dave because the scores are just like his recorded versions. I especially like his TIME OUT book because I started with it years ago. The songs are memorable and I still play some of them, especially "Blue Rondo a la Turk", "Take Five", "Kathy's Waltz" and "Strange Meadow Lark".

There are a ton of websites where you can download free sheet music (legally) and get things from movies, musicals, or just popular songs in general. I'm not sure if you read music by the notes or if you are more accustomed to reading chord changes, but either way, try reading a new piece everyday. Even if you have to take it ridiculously under tempo, try and get both the hands and the singing going simultaneously. The more you do this, the easier it will come to you. Hope this helps!
