I'm trying to get into jazz music; need help?

You need to listen to jazz which has some references to the music you alreaqdy know. so, if you like metal and heavy rock, try any guitar-oriented jazz like fusionjazz and jazzrock. For example colloseum was a group which was between rock and jazz, give it a try. Or you might like the recordings of mike stern, who played also in rock groups before he went to jazz.
