What influence does jazz have on modern music?

When people talk about Jazz/Rock Fusion, how come they leave out the third influence, electronic music?

But I'd go further back; "electronic" music began with "musique concrete" performances in the 1940s, some of which consisted only of taped sounds. in addition to the distinction between "electric" and "electronic" music, I would also say that "electronic" music is not necessarily dance music. Electronic music such as that created by Pink Floyd predates disco by at least a decade, the first commercial synthesizer (the Buchla) was invented in 1963, and the first all-electronic instrument (the Theremin) was invented in 1928.

Just because they have electric instruments and effects doesnt make it electronic. Electronic music started around the disco era when synths were huge, and all in a nutshell electronic music is pretty much all electric instruments and heavy usage on effects like loop, flange, phaser, reverb, filters, echo, etc. Bitches Brew just uses a good bit of echo and reverb (which makes almost everything sound better), its not electronic. Jazz fusion isnt just limited to rock and funk which are the most common in my opinion, Chick Corea has a ton of latin influences, as well as African influences. Jazz fusion is just a compilation of styles that follow basic jazz guidelines. Reply to King Criminson: Yea, you're right but I was referring to which is often all electronic dance music (not the tencho stuff, but psychedelic would be more like it) , which was the influence I thought he was speaking of.
