How to align the valves on my trumpet?

My trumpet valves keep sticking!?

  • So I got this trumpet like around 1/2 a year ago and the valves just keep sticking bad! Its a hisonic and I have to oil them like 3 times a day each, how can I solve this?

  • Answer:

Maybe your fingers are crooked! Just kidding, take out the valves and see if they roll, the casing or valves are probably warped.... I've been playing tpt since 81 and pro since 86... Good luck young kat!

Take it in for a service and they will find what's wrong with it, (there is obviously something wrong with it!). Go to your nearest music shop that does repairs or something.

Oil collects dirt, over lubing will be counterproductive. Dissasemble, gently clean down to bare metal, then put the lightest coating of oil that covers all rubbing surfaces. Mineral spirits will help thin the old gunky oil to make it easier to remove. Naphtha and kerosene work better, but have an obvious fire hazard.
