What's a rhythm section?

Anyone know of a CD that just has a rhythm section playing that you can solo over?

    What you want is called a backing track. Jamey Abersold is famous for his backing track sets. I have my very own collection of abersold tracks. Also you should look into Band in a Box, which is a smart backing track maker: you type in the chords for the progression you want (or need, its easy to copy from a piece of music like the Real Book, but as a saxophonist you'd hafta transpose it, which is an easy task w/ this program). Theres some online at random sites (i cant help you there since Im pretty much set on backing tracks w/ Abersold and B.I.A.B., but checking online is always an option)

I agree with the other answer. The Jamey Aebersold books with play-along CDs are fantastic! The Jamey Aebersold website is www.jazzbooks.com . In terms of play-alongs, there are over 100 volumes now in many different styles. Jamey also sells other books about music and jazz theory, as well as books with jazz scales and jazz patterns to practice. Hope this helps.

Your best bet is to google Karaoke. At least, the mp3 are only musical and allow you to sing or play over them.
