It has been his main guitar since 1981 and has played it for over 2 decades. It's also the longest running guitar model in the Ibanez history. According to John the original Ibanez AS200 guitars from the early 80s were some of the best semi-acoustic electric guitars ever made. It's a very well made instrument and really balanced in tone from the highs to the lows. He uses the treble element with the highs rolled off. Al Di Meola also has 2 Godin guitars: a Godin Multiac Jazz and a Godin Multiac Nylon. Both guitars are MIDI equipped.

out of guitar you can still by? well the BEST gibson is the Super 400. It is a massive 18 inch jazz guitar. Originally when it first came out in the early to mid 30's is was fully acoustic. BUT... it is insanely expensive. There is also the Es 175, but that is made of plywood (and if I had one, that would really annoy me!) If I could get any jazz guitar (and there was no such thing as money), I would get a Stomberg Master 400 (19 inch guitar- Freddie Green played one), and fit a floating neck mounted humbucker to it.

gibson semi hollows are nice also, for the twangy sound of some great jazz guitar (such as latin jazz stuff) then you probably want to go with a Fender Telecaster for a more bluesy sound you want to go with either a les paul or a fender strat
