If you want to try a bit of eveything, I'll tell you my favorites: Miles Davis, Billy Holiday, The Count Basie Orchestra, and more recent Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Michael Buble. I also love Deborah Cox and try something from the Putumayo collection like Latin Jazz.

There the best Jazz singers you'll find, trust me, not saying you shouldn't check out Ella Fitzgerald (*Summer Time), Louis Armstrong (*Jeepers Creepers) , Sade (*Kiss Of Life), Peggy Lee (*Fever), Bessie Smith (*Do Your Duty), Anita Baker (*Caught Up In The Rapture) and the new comer Queen Latifah (*California Dreamin) *My Favorite song by the performer

One of the most essential jazz albums is Miles Davis's "Kind of Blue." The highest-selling jazz record, I believe. There's lots of different styles to get into, but if you're looking just for songs, I recommend: Miles Davis - "So What" John Coltrane - "Giant Steps" or anything off of the album "A Love Supreme" Wes Montgomery - "Full House" Wayne Shorter - "Witch Hunt" Dave Brubeck Quartet - "Take Five" Pat Metheny - "Bright Size Life" Herbie Hancock - "Chameleon" Thelonious Monk - "'Round Midnight" That's right around the middle - late 50s to the 70s, but of course there's earlier and later stuff. There are just tons and tons of great work out there, it'd be impossible to suggest something from every single era. This should be a nice start, but please explore and do your own research. You'll learn what you do and don't like and that will help you find out more.
