Certainly some to listen to: John Coltrane= Amazing Tenor Sax Playing e.g Afro Blue, good song Charlie Parker,Summertime,He's another great saxophonist Miles Davis, Take Five or Milestones are good songs Coleman Hawkins, Rifftide or Caravan Dextor Gordon, The Shadow Of Your Smile, simply amazing song For a more swingy touch to things, try ray charles, hit the road jack, georgia on my mind or I got a woman Should be a good start ;)

In No Particular Order: Billie Holliday. Miles Davis Louis Armstrong Diana Krall Duke Ellington Stephane Grapelli Django Reinhart. The best thing to do is borrow some CDs from the library and see what you like. Compilations are a good way to get a feel for various artists and styles.

There are MANY more artists. If you are interested, your local library may have Ken Burn's DVD/VHS documentary called "Jazz: A History of America's Music".
