What are good country songs for someone who never listens to country music?

You could start with Johnny Cash, particularly with the following songs: "I Walk the Line", "Folsom Prison Blues", "Ring of Fire", "Get Rhythm", "Man in Black", "One Piece at a Time", "A Boy Named Sue", a duet with June Carter called "Jackson", as well as railroad songs such as "Hey Porter", "Rock Island Line", and "Cat's in the Cradle".

Garth Brooks' "Friends in Low Places". Anyone who doesn't like that song would not like any kind of music. My cousin hates country, but liked Charley Pride's "Kiss An Angel Good Morning". Another country hater liked "For the Good Times" by Ray Price and Conway Twitty's "It's Only Make Believe". Try those and see if he likes any. Paul listed artists that were more pop than country.

Try Keith Urban!!! I am a huuuuuge Keith fan and my husband doesnt care for country music either BUT i finally got him into Keith Urban! and now he doesnt mind country music anymore, it took awhile tho!! lol plus, ive taken my husband to a few shows of Keiths and that made him appreciate him even more! Keith's music on the radio may sound more like country music but on his cds, theres a lot of songs there that aren't released as singles and they sound more like rock, he is brilliant on that guitar!!! check these out, maybe this will help ;) (omg i love this one!)

Have him listen to Colt Ford, he's a country rapper. Dierks Bentley - Lot Of Leavin' Left To Do, Sideways, Feel That Fire Willy Mack - Don't Waste Your Pretty Brad Paisley - Ticks [or just about anything from him] Montgomery Gentry That's what my guy likes and he doesn't care much for Country music. Anything that's fun and upbeat that guys can relate to he would probably like.

Check out some Texas Country/Red Dirt artists like Cross Canadian Ragweed, Stoney Larue, Eli Young Band, Roger Creager, Josh Abbott Band, Randy Rogers Band, Kevin Fowler. It's much better tha the pop country played on the radio these days.

I have a similar problem. Try stuff that's not 100% country like the crossover stuff. Try Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum,The Carter Twins, Gloriana,Love and Theft, Sugarland,Rascal Flatts,Brad Paisley and Keith Urban.
