Why is passover celebrated for 8 days?

i'm not asking why it's celebrated for 8 days here and 7 days in Israel. I am asking why 8 days? Why THAT specific number? why not 2, 3, or even 4 days? thanks a bunch

Since it took a day to be notified of the new moon we celebrate the festivals for an extra day out side of Israel, to be sure the timing is correct. The festivals are our appoint with G*D. If your boss scheduled an appointment with you wouldn't you be sure to be there on time, if not early just to be sure you didn't miss it ? The same with the festival. G*D said the festival was for 7 days.
