You can't go wrong with Mozart...Jupiter Symphony is one of my favorites as in Eine Kline Nacht Music.... Get on YouTube and check out Rachel Barton (Pine) she is a super violinist from Chicago and just about anything she records is fantastic...she even does some heavy metal stuff with her violin...she has her CD's for sale on her website. One of my favorites of hers is Storming the Citadale. I also like Ossy Renardy's "Testament" (Amazon.Com) because I really like the way he treats Bach fugues...(I play violin) and I actually heard something different when I listened to him play..Ossy was a world class violinist that was NOT trained by a master--self-taught..remarkable! I have done real well buying used CDs in excellent condition from Amazon at good prices...

Symphonies: Beethoven (He wrote 9, they're all lovely. I like the 7th the best, but you should have a recording of the 9th, at least) Tchaikovsky (the 6th is my favorite) Brahms (#3, #4,...) Bizet (Symphony in C major) Prokofiev (classical symphony Op 25) Haydn (No. 94, aka "SURPRISE) Mozart (40 and 41...) There are lots of other works you could delve into, but this is where I'd start. Choose a composer you like, then look into his works. You will become addicted to beauiful classical music! It will get stuck in your head!

There are also plenty of books on starting a classical music library. NPR had one, for example, and the paperback was fairly inexpensive. You might want to search Amazon or another online bookdealer on "classical music library."

go on youtube, type in a name of a classical composer, most of the recordings are bad so try to get a concert pianist. Rubinstein and Horowitz are the best for most pieces. Here are few composers to get you started: Vivaldi Bach Handel Corelli Mozart Beethoven Haydn Schubert Chopin Liszt Schumann Brahms Bizet Rossini Wagner Debussy Ravel Strauss Stravinsky Mussorgsky Tchaikovsky Mendelssohn Rimsky-Korsakov Rachmaninoff ini Pachebel Satie Faure Gershwin Most of this is in order with the exception of like 8
