Hi there, I know I shouldn't really be posting this question here, but all I can do is hope that at least some piano players come to this section and may be able to help me ...show more

Answer:
At the end of your E major section, try Emaj with a B at the top to E7 to Ddim keeping the B on top, then on to the A maj. For your run, which sounds to me as if it's got an E7 with it, try B, D, C#, E, G#, F#, which are the same notes but a different order.

Without hearing any of this piece, here is a way to get back to A major from E. Play these in dotted quarters for a faster harmonic rhythm if you have been doing one chord per bar - it will add drive to the cadence back in A major: E - F#m - B7 - E7 -> A (beginning of A major section) Here's a simple way to make this melody sound more "dramatic" - and cliche, but hey... I haven't heard any of the piece... Instead of B,C#,D,E,F#,G# how about this: B C# D# E D# C# F# G# ... assuming that you're still in A here, the added D# will set this scale apart from the rest of the music by changing from the major mode to Lydian.

I'm going to try to help, but without knowing the style or sound of the piece, any help will really be moot. When I compose, adn the way I wrap my mind around key changed and chord changes. I have a main key signature, but that's just there to make notation easier. Shows what accidentals I'll be using the most. I ignore it for the most part, whenever I change a chord, depending on the chord, the accidental of the chords key, say my song is in Ab Major, and my chord changes to F7, my new key is F, and I used that key singature to go to Bb minor, and that is my new key, and I stay there until I want to change it. Every time I transition to a chord, it's my new key. I'm writing and Etude-esque song at the moment, and I have a couple of sections where I change key every 2 beats, and it's sounds fine to me, if just a bit eccentric, but that's how I like it. E major, you can do any multitude of things to get back to A major. The easiest way to go back to any key it to use the dominant 7th chord. E G# B and D (natural), that naturally transitions into A major. If you made a permanent key E major, only to last for 8 measures, then I'd suggest just using accidentals to show the chords, until you feel like going back into the A major cadence pattern. following the circle of fifths, to move down the circle, use A7 to D major, or you can go up the circle form A to B7 to E major, and adding in E, Up the Circle, from E major can use dominant 7th to go to A major, and well as going to F#7 to B major, to any you can just travel around chords at will, I had to do many weeks of different transitional exercises before I could use them without thinking about it. As far as a climaxing for the left hand with your A major ascending octave scale (going by accidentals), you can do the scale over an E7 chord, and transition the chord to A major once the scale peaks. It all dependings on the tone and mood and style of the song. When I saw that scale, it made me think of spreading it out over 3 octaves in classical style over a chord that screams for resolution, like the dominant 7ths do, at sixteenth note (it fits better mathematically with triplets, but I do not know how that would fit in with 6/8 time, I rarely use it.) patterns, and crescending into a double forte A at the top of the octave run when the chord transitions back to the A in the left. But again it's all in the sound and tempo and what you used to build before it, so this advice could be null in-void

well the best thing to do is to develop the piece by moving to the relative minor or major of the key to do this you count: 3 semi tone up (to move to the major) or 3 semi tones down (if you want to go to the minor) e.g: to find the relative of c major, go down 3semi-tones to A minor .. your piece is in A major so you can either change your key to C major or F# Minor (will sound good either way and when you mention about the tones going up in almost semi-tone .. i dont think i can help because i would need to hear the piece to give a correct anaysis

try putting in a crishendo on part of the piece to give it a bit of depth.
