What are some Arabic/Middle Eastern classical composers?

Would you consider German classical composers to be some of the best composers of all time?

  • composers like Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms are some of the best composers of their time periods..... so ya...

  • Answer:

I'd consider that a safe bet. Yes in fact I'd go as far as to rank them as thus: Germany followed by Austria no other two countries come close when we are talking about those that produced the greatest of the great composers. 3rd place would be interesting,Russia perhaps?

Yeah, I would consider German composers to be overall the best classical composers, followed closely by Austria (Mozart, Haydn etc..), and Russia (Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov etc...) :)

I would consider the best German composers to be the best German composers. The fact that in the mid-1800's the music business, publishing, conductors, etc. was dominated by Germans and became a powerful and pan-European Cartel which dominated the music scene, is probably what leads you to think what you think. You might be yet another victim from the decades long fallout of that organized hype. All you have to do is remind yourself of two world wars, who started them, and those wars were possible because an entire nation was indoctrinated with a belief that it was highly superior and entitled to spread itself where it was not invited or welcome. Was not Bach a Saxon, from Saxony? 'Germany' did not exist then. Beethoven was Rhenish. La plus ca change / The more things change..... p.b.

some? definately. i would like to meet the person who tells me that there are not even some of the multiple Bachs, Beethoven, Brahms, Bruch, Handel, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Schumann, Schubert or even Schoenberg are not among the best classical composers of all time. But realize that Germany did not exist as we know it during many of these life times.

Undoubtedly many of the greatest composers of all time were german or following in the german tradition. There are numerous composers who weren't, of course: chopin, liszt, debussy, stravinsky, to name just a few.

Not at all. yes, I do agree with the fact that an outstanding number of German composers (Beethoven, Strauss, Handel etc.) have become very well known and are greats, but other Composers from several more nationalities (Liszt, Couperin, Clementi, Schubert etc.) are just as well known and are greats also.
