Should I get a job as a software engineer if I can pass the interview tests?

I have been independently studying software engineering/development for about 2 years now. I do a lot of practice problems and have made a few web applications. I have used most of the major languages used today, with preference to Java and php. Recently, I have been applying to software engineering positions around the country. While it's hard to get an interview with no degree, previous software employment, or 'successful' projects- when I do get an interview, I always do well on the coding test. The last job I did a test for gave me an offer, but I backed out in fear that I was somehow not prepared for the job, and that I would move across the country and find that I could not keep up with the other engineers, or somehow I missed a crucial concept in my studies. If I routinely do well on coding tests, does this imply that I would be alright in the workplace? Should I be applying to jobs below my level or embrace a 'you hired me' mentality? You can presume I know how to communicate, delegate, and all the 'soft' skills.

Take the job. I think your weakness is having no experience in team coding, so you've practiced it solo. But if the companies know this and accept it, then you're good. The soft skill you'll need is how to learn from the other engineers and make them happy to teach you.
