So much ignorance and hate drive the world! Christine, sorry you are snow bound. I hope it ends soon; with the weather and your thinking! Kwanzaa is an African American innovation that draws inspiration and substance from a variety of celebrations that do in fact occur throughout Africa, and have occurred throughout African history. Only the uninformed think that we think Kwanzaa is an actual replication of something that takes place anywhere in Africa, except where continental Africans seeking to overcome the destructiveness of european influences have embraced the practice. Kwanzaa has been called the fastest growing celebration of its kind in modern history. From a virtual zero beginning in 1966, it is conservatively estimated that 15 million people world wide celebrate, in some form or fashion, Kwanzaa. Some estimates range as high as 30 million. People in Canada, the Caribbean, England, as well as some African localities embrace the tradition. Of course, the overwhelming majority, at this point, are in the U.S.

Christine you are right! Kwanzaa was invented by Maulana Karenga, a black supremisist. In 1971 Karenga, Louis Smith, and Luz Maria Tamayo were convicted of felony assault and false imprisonment for assaulting and torturing over a two day period two women from the US organization, Deborah Jones and Gail Davis. A May 14, 1971 article in the Los Angeles Times described the testimony of one of the women: "Deborah Jones, who once was given the Swahili title of an African queen, said she and Gail Davis were whipped with an electrical cord and beaten with a karate baton after being ordered to remove their clothes. She testified that a hot soldering iron was placed in Ms. Davis's mouth and placed against Ms. Davis's face and that one of her own big toes was tightened in a vise. Karenga also put detergent and running hoses in their mouths, she said. So is that the kind of holiday you want to celebrate? Come on! Kwanzaa is a fraud and a disgrace to America. So even after reading this you still want to celebrate Kwanzaa? Go ahead, HAPPY F***ING KWANZAA TO YOU!
