Does anybody actually "celebrate" Kwanzaa?

Does anybody actually celebrate kwanzaa?

  • Answer:

Estimates vary from four and a half million to twenty eight million depending on who you listen to. That's certainly a large number, even if it is only as small as thirteen percent of African Americans as some figures say. I have a few friends that celebrate it and thoroughly enjoy it. It would be great to see this holiday become a real global celebration of love and unity and grow away from its criticized background with Dr. Karenga. This isn't to say that can't happen over time - many holidays that are almost universally celebrated today had just as unpleasant a background.
