  • Answer:

I think that is an excellent question! I hear about it, a little bit, but I have yet to meet a single person who celebrates it. I have lived around black people my entire life, and not one has ever mentioned that holiday. Ever. In any situation.

Well Kwanzaa can actually be celebrated by anyone. From Jewish to Chinese. Its a non-religious holiday that helps people learn about African-American culture. I celebrate it and I love it! Its so much fun! Also, I don't agree with the person above me. It started in America, not Africa. And like I said before, its non-religious!

I celebrate Kwanzaa, which begins Dec. 26 and ends Dec. 31.

I don't know anyone personally. But, it was concieved by the nation of Islam in order to replicate an African harvest festival.

I have never met anyone in my life that celebrates Kwanzaa. In fact, I went to high school in South Florida and had MANY close black friends, and every one of them celebrated Christmas. The few who have ever even mentioned Kwanzaa only did so to say that they don't even know what Kwanzaa is supposed to mean, and that they were always under the impression that it is an African holiday, not an African-American holiday.

I do, it's not really religious people can participate in it by choice.

No; it's a made-up holiday in an attempt to give AA's another special time; an alternative to Christmas. But many AA's are Christians, and celebrate Christian holidays, and they don't need this African wannabee stuff.

Religious African Americans, usually someone who is of 100% African Heritage celebrate Kwanzaa, because it all started in Africa, not America
