What makes a DJ memorable, and who's your favourite in Singapore?

erm...i don't really know the names of the DJs but i think those at yes 933 are quite good.they are kind of frenly and also have some interviews or so occasionally...they plan lots of activities.

in my opinion, a dj has to understand the crowd n spin the right songs... thats what makeshim memorable... my fave is dj rattle frm MOS in singapore...

I have been clubbing since the age of 15 and now i am 30, technically i have 15 years of experience and i dare to say no local DJs have or had left a deep impression in me except DJ Doctor Mix and also the DJs from Zouk. These guys are sought after by clubs and events but besides them is there anyone that comes close? The regular DJs playing in clubs and pubs are just there for the sake of glamour and $ but sad to say their music knowledge really sucks, they keep playing the same old songs for a few months and i wonder do they really know the meaning of songs? It's true that DJs should update themselves but that does not mean that old songs should be forgotten. I will truly have respect if a DJ drop an old number like PM Dawn in a R&B set rather than keep playing Nelly, Usher ectc. It's time to inject new fun in an old number and create a new song, that's creativity and that's what we are lacking.

a great dj for me is one who knows what he or she is playing, can read th crowed, will change the music subtly and theres nothing better than a dj who dances or plays around behind his decks. not sure of fav in singapore, i was just there however and sadlyenogh to admit the was a great dj at the bali bar in the orchid towers. ahaha dont look at me like that, i was there with my girlfriend.

Somebody who knows how to spin a record. My favorite from Singapore is that guy who spins the records real good.

I enjoyed myself thoroughly when I was clubbing in Canada, because the DJ was playing only parts of the songs that are nice. I find that in Singapore, the Djs usually play the entire song, and during the boring parts, ppl just stand around or start to leave the dance floor. I like a DJ that plays good songs. A smart DJ will play songs that are popular. As long as they are nice songs I can dance to, and there are no remixes(like those horrible hip-hop remixes at Powerhouse), I'm fine with it.

There was this DJ in the late 80's early 90's, called Malcolm X. He was working @ the Warehouse disco. That guy was good because u never know what to expect from him. He could play anything from rock,rap to rock n roll. I used to frequent that place because of him. He was truly a versatile DJ and if I'm not wrong, he was the 1st DJ to introduce house music here in S'pore. He's the Man....

most of them suck. im really sure of that. once at st james. they did not even allowed encore's which is so dumb. i mean so what if ur a power club or smth. they just stopped the music, turned on the lights and ppl had to leave. and once at another club. the dj did not play requests which they usually do. he kept spinning those indian kindda music. no offence here though. but it went on for like an hour. than right after that he spun techno. wtf? and another time at momo, the dj practically had the whole song on. but did mix in some parts.i think the best clubs are like zouk/thumper/ and some others smoller scaled clubs. but heh, personal opinion tho ;P
