Why is it bad to sleep with contacts?

When u sleep in contacts why do they get "stuck " to ur eye?

  • they dont get completely stuck obviously but they kinda stick when u try to take them out, why is this? is it bad?

    Your cornea swells when you sleep with contacts as you are depriving it of oxygen - this makes the contacts tighter and because your tears can't pass under the lens if the cornea is swollen the lens & cornea arn't lubricated well enough adding to the problem. don't sleep in your contacts to you could do permanent damage to your eyes!

it's not really bad for your eye if the contacts are meant to be slept in. just make sure you put eye drops in when you wake up, it'll be more comfortable. and always to put in eye drops before you take out contacts b/c it can damage your cornea.. according to my eye dr.

its probably just cause your eyes are dry... place a re-wetting drop in the morning. take them out as recomenned.if not it can lead to all sorts of fun eye infections and then you will be told NOT to wear them till the infection clears if you want the ability to sleep in your contacts, speak w/ your eye doctor. there are some options for that kind of use. untill then, just take them out as you were instructed to do

Well you shouldn't wear your contacts when you sleep...it's really bad for your eyes. I guess there's not enough moisture in your eyes to keep the contact moving regularly. Make sure you always take them off before you go to sleep.

It is bad to let your contacts stay in for longer than recommended you could get a bad eye infection.
