Why do other countries celebrate Independance Day?

Are there any Americans living in the UK who will celebrate Independance Day here?

I realise the 4th of July is celebrating independance from this nation, but are there any ex-pats who get together in England for American holidays? And if so, when and where?

Hi ...... i am very lonely for Americans and the 4th of July Holiday here today.I usually do OK, but when holidays come around I get a little blue. I don't know of any groups getting together, but if you are anywhere near the High Wycombe area I'd get together with you. I am planning on a BBQ with my husband, and am going to try to find some fireworks which are legal here. I'd love to hear an american accent as I am feeling a bit homesick and miss my family.
