Why is Independence day called the 4th of July and not July 4th?

It depends where you live. Where I live, we call it July 4th. I do live in the USA.

You can call it whatever you want. It's just the traditional way to say it. Why do we say, "Happy" in the greeting for every holiday, but christmas is "Merry Christmas?"
