I think it is because in the "Star Spangled Banner", one of the lines say, "The bombs bursting in air" and fireworks sound like bombs, and they burst in the air.

because there was this lawyer who was a prisoner in a British ship and he saw some cannons shooting and the american flag was still standing so kinda like fireworks
