Whats the best paying job I can get with a minor in business and a major in theatre?

  • I am minoring in business and majoring in theatre...what is the best paying job I can get so I can support a family?

  • Answer:

Major in Business and minor in Theatre (or do a double major, or get a Theatre Management degree) - and you can manage a theatre (be in production or promotion) and make very nice money if you do it well. The business skills will be what make you the bucks.

Maybe going the route of sales or marketing... something that uses interpersonal skills/communication that you develop with theatre training. Sales managers might give you a weird look at first, but if you prove you can get customers what they want, when they want it, and they're happy, then you can make six figures. I've met people that haven't finished college that earn over $200k/year, but that's because they did develop and hone a variety of skills by learning other things -- and they put them to use. Although truly, a business major might get you taken more seriously at the first interview level. Headhunters read the word "theatre" and it doesn't really suggest that the person has a lot of immediate skills in business.

What does your advisor say? Surely you had something in mind when you started your schooling!

You could manage a movie theater.

I would change the major and the minor around so you don't end up at Starbuck's.

This can't be answered. There are *so many* different jobs you can get, and your salary will vary based on how well you do, where you are, etc.. What do you want to do?

You should have switched your major and minor around if you wanted to make money. Way to waste an education...

Since you are a theater major, the answer is easy: the BEST paying job is a movie star, making 20 million per movie (and it's easy to get a job like this...)

degree doesn't matter, as long as you have an education that MAYBE gets you an interview. It's how you catch their attention with your resume. How you interview - the interview can be crucial, you can talk your way into a job that you are not really qualified for but your personality and ambitious shows through. I would think workign for a school would be the best becaue the health care is very inexpensive and good. The pay is gauranteed pretty much and you get weekends off and paid vacations, retirement fund, etc. The hours are good to get a second job or wife could get a night job if needed.
