If you want people to say "wow", you probably need to put some work into it. But... Last year my husband and I went as Scarecrow and Poison Ivy. He wore a suit, and made a hood out of some burlap, cut eye holes and stitched the mouth and other stitching with yarn. This year one of the girls who was at the party last year said she was scared of him in that hood. Not including the suit, the costume probably cost him about 5 bucks and a few hours of his time.
