What should my wife wear to a job interview for a store manager position at a Bath and Body Works?

It's been over seven years since her last job interview. What would be the appropriate level of attire for this occasion? She has a couple of business suits to wear, some ...show more

Answer:
A white button down, black slacks and nice shoes. Bath and Body Works isn't highly professional in their dress (no suitcoats, etc.) When dressing for an interview, dress similarly to the employees. Many managers believe women who wear makeup are more interested in succeeding than women who don't, so I'd recommend makeup as well even if she doesn't usually wear it. And B&BW isn't a very high-stress job. As long as she smiles and is personable, she should be confident she has the job. Good luck to her :-)

I would say slacks ,flats, kinda tailored blouse. Classic on the side of conservative look is best. Look classic and ready to work and well dressed.

any of those sound good. i thikn its always best to be overdressed. so as long as the dresses arent too casual. even though she will not necessarily need to dress like that for the interview you are trying to make an impression. she should be more interested in what they are going to ask her. i had an interview today. so some of the things she might want to be prepared for what will be your greatest strength? greeatest weakness? why the time off for 7 years? whats your supervising style? are you uncomfortable disciplining others? what attrated you about the job? tell us about yourself (this one threw me off). what was the worst experience you have ever had in a job? best? be careful. they try to get you to go negative. i said my negative was that i am too hard on myself and need to give myself time to learn . anyway just relax and have fun with it! good luck!!!

Seven years ago I would have said absolutely a suit. I think that standards have relaxed somewhat however - probably either would be perfectly appropriate. I recently experienced a similar situation - I'd been working at home for a number of years and my suits were rather dated (heck, they screamed 90's) - so I did wear a more current tailored blouse & slacks & it was fine. GOOD LUCK TO HER!

casual, cute, and unique. you want to tell them "hey, i can do this!" without screaming "i have no taste in clothes"
