Is Pharmacist a good career?

Pharmacist career or engineering career ?

  • These both are good because they dont need too much college and both pay good. Could somebody give me the pros and cons of both ? For example which one is more difficult to become and ...show more

  • Answer:

I have to say Pharmacist. I work in Workforce Development and we are finding that there are at least 2 engineers for every engineering job! However, with our aging population, medicine is something that a lot of people will need!! If you are willing to go to school for it, you will be able to get a job because from the data I have seen, there is a need for pharmacists! Good luck!

They are both difficult, competitive majors. Go with the one you feel more passionate about. The more interested you are in a subject, the better you will do academically.

Engineering is much harder, I had some engineers are apartment mates in college and they never slept.

Dont need too much college? I'm not sure bout that.. anyways, the simplest deciding factor if you're undecided would be..maths & physics OR chemistry &biology? are you the calculate/solving problem type? or the reading/memorizing type? simply because this is the biggest difference between the two..if you find your interest/strong points in one of them, then its easy to determine which one will be easier to handle in the future..

Being a Pharmacist is a great career. It's easy to get a job and they earn a very good salary. The cons are that you will probably have to work unusual hours until you build up enough seniority. Also, it will take between 6 and eight years to earn this degree. Everyone knows that being a pharmacist is a great job and it is difficult to get into a pharmacy school. A big downside to being an engineer is that it is difficult to get a job. And even if you get a job, there is a high chance that your job will be sent overseas. A lot of the engineering jobs are being sent to other countries, such as India where the work can be done cheaper. Many people with engineering degrees are out of work. My sister regrets becoming an electrical engineer. It's a very difficult degree to earn. I wouldn't recommend this field to anyone. Good luck.

Pharmacy is a lot harder to get into and I think it takes a little longer in college too, but I might be wrong. The good thing about Pharmacy is that your starting pay right out of college is a lot more than that of an engineer, and engineers make good money right out of college. I'm 18 and going to Purdue next year for engineering. If you like problem solving, then go with engineering, if you like helping out people (that includes cheaper medications) then go into Pharmacy. It's all up to you.

Hmmmm, well, I'm partial...I'm becoming a Pharmacist...and I'm 48! Currently I'm taking my Calculus and Analytical Geometry class now:)

pharmacy school is really hard! takes about 6 years if your a good student.. Once your there though, its like $65k a year to start, and you would be working only 4 hours a day!

Well I know to be a pharmacist you need to go to school for 6 years so if you only want to spend 2 thats out. You could become a pharmacist assistant in 2 years but it only pays $10-15/ hour as opposed to the $60-70 per hour a pharmacist makes.
