Answer:
Depending on the job you're applying for either go in a suit or dress slacks, shirt, & tie. Also, make sure to wear dress shoes, that you took a bath, combed your hair, cut your fingernails, etc...you get the picture, right? Nice, clean cut and ready to go! Good luck!

Suit and tie. Don't go beyond into tuxedo, don't just wear dress pants and a shirt. You're showing them your best face. They assume you're trying to put your best foot forward and if you come in looking sloppy they'll assume when you start working it will only be worse. Make sure you iron your shirt. Your shoes aren't dirty. You aren't taking weird chances with a joke tie. But act comfortable in your clothes. Don't act like this is unusual.

If you are a guy---some nice formal pants (black or dark brown) will work fine, and a nice dress top with a tie will look good too. Normal dress shoes are fine with that. If you are a girl---a nice, simple black skirt that goes about down to your knees will work fine, and a pretty blouse to go with it. A simple necklace will be okay, but you don't NEED one. As for shoes, black heels, but if you don't like heels, black flats that don't expose too much toe. Don't look TOO formal, it might make them think that your looks are all that you have to offer them.

Always err on the conservative side especially with a recruiter. S/he can advise you on what to where when meeting the client. Accounting & Finance tend to be conservative employers. But they may endorse casual wear when not meeting clients.

Wear what you would wear to any interview. A suit. If you really can't stand the thought of wearing a suit, go with the dress pants and buttoned up shirt or a skirt and buttoned up shirt. It also depends on what part of the country you're in. What be would be acceptable in the financial centers of NYC may not be necessary for Phoenix, AZ.

Business suits, you have to look professional. This is your first impression to the recruiter. You need to dress and wear your make-up professionally, no party or nightclub attires.

Wear what you would expect your boss to be wearing on your first day of work. It doesn't matter that you are only meeting the recruiter - you need to sell yourself to the recruiter, so they can be comfortable selling you to their client.
